Our Story

From Haldwani to Brampton

The Chawla's story began in the 1960s in Haldwani, in the foothills of Nainital, where the late S. Attar Singh Chawla created the dish that would come to define the family name: Cream Chicken. Made without red chillies or oil, and instead simmered in milk, cream, black pepper and green cardamom, it was different from anything in the local kitchens, and it stuck.

A Family Recipe Grows

What started with one signature dish grew into a full-service restaurant tradition. Today Chawla's Cuisine in Brampton carries that same recipe forward, alongside a broader menu of Hakka Chinese favourites, Nepalese momos and Punjabi classics. From tandoori momos and chilli garlic fish to butter chicken, biryani and Manchurian, every plate reflects decades of family cooking.
